On June 11, Refond Optoelectronics was invited to attend the DVN (Tokyo) International Automotive Lighting Seminar. At the event, Refond showcased a range of cutting-edge technologies and delivered a keynote speech, detailing its technological applications in the field of automotive optics and the latest progress in interior and exterior automotive display interactions.

As the automotive industry moves towards electrification and intelligent transformation, in-vehicle lighting — serving as the most intuitive touchpoint for human-vehicle interaction — is rapidly evolving beyond traditional functions of illumination and safety indication. It now extends to advanced driver assistance and personalized interaction scenarios.

Innovation Illuminates the Future of Mobility

Refond has built a full-scenario, innovative product matrix to meet the diversified market demands of automotive lighting applications.

For exterior display applications, Refond’s Mini LED technology covers various scenarios such as logo badges, headlights, B-pillar interactive displays, side window transparent displays, and tail lights. In the lighting sector, the company has introduced high-power LEDs and automotive-grade ADB modules. For smart cockpit applications, Refond enhances in-vehicle display image quality and energy efficiency with Mini LED backlighting, and enables innovative applications like smart surfaces, transparent windows, and ambient lighting through Mini LED direct display technology — creating an immersive interactive cockpit experience.



Interactive Screen LEDs — Empowering Intelligent Interaction

At the seminar, Refond’s innovative achievements drew significant attention. The interactive screen LED solution integrates LED packaging and module design, providing uniform surface light emission with no dark zones. Each LED can mix up to 16 million colors, offering high contrast and support for personalized intelligent light language displays. The ultra-low power LEDs are compatible with various scenarios such as grille lights, tail lights, and functional lighting. The pixelized graphics allow seamless integration with vehicle systems, unlocking more interactive potential for smart vehicles.


Currently, the module supports a single light source with 3.0×3.0 mm packaging. Notably, Refond is also launching a 2.0×2.0 mm version, available in white, red, RGB, and dual-color options, to meet diverse light language customization needs.


Cyan LEDs — Leading the Trend in Smart Driving

Refond’s latest product, the ADS Cyan Blue-Green LED for autonomous driving, also debuted at the seminar. It is available in both chip-level and phosphor-converted versions. With a 495 nm wavelength adapted to mainstream sensors, it improves penetration by up to 50% in foggy or nighttime conditions. The product is stable and reliable, enhancing environmental perception and vehicle-to-everything communication, and complies with RoHS certification.



Smart RGB Ambient Lighting — Creating an Immersive Experience

For interior lighting, Refond offers solutions ranging from monochrome to full-color sources. The Smart RGB ambient light presented at the event adopts 3535 dual-line control IC LED technology, with independent RGB channel drive, 256-level grayscale dimming and color tuning, and support for scenario-based light effects. Its low power consumption (0.3W) aligns with the energy efficiency standards of new energy vehicles.

Mini LED Direct Display & Backlighting Solutions

Leveraging the features of Mini LED direct display — small, thin, lightweight, flexible, and pixelated — Refond integrates this technology into applications such as tail lights and interior automotive components, unlocking boundless innovation for automotive lighting design.

Refond’s Mini LED ultra-thin ambient lighting, pixelated intelligent tail lights, and dynamic logo products deliver not only refined personalized displays, but also functions such as driver assistance and human-vehicle interaction, opening new channels for interactive lighting in automotive applications.

Unlike existing solutions in the market, Refond's Mini LED backlight solution presented at the seminar adopts an innovative 3D optical design, which effectively reduces halo effects and significantly enhances optical consistency and uniformity. The AM-Mini LED ultra-thin panel supports more partition zones and refined light control, achieving both reduced power consumption and advantages such as ultra-thin design, high brightness, ultra-high contrast, and low cost. With AEC-Q102 automotive-grade certification, it provides stable and reliable technology for in-vehicle displays.
