From September 22–24, Refond Optoelectronics presented its latest automotive lighting and display products and solutions at the 16th International Symposium on Automotive Lighting (ISAL 2025).
As one of the most influential global platforms for academic and industrial exchange in automotive lighting, ISAL 2025 gathered leading experts and industry representatives worldwide to discuss cutting-edge trends and future directions.
With the rapid advancement of automotive electrification and intelligence, lighting is evolving from “functional illumination” to “integrated sensing and interaction.” In particular, the rise of ADAS systems and the growing demand for V2V communication are transforming vehicle lights into key enablers of safety signaling, environmental perception, interactive communication, and personalized expression.
Refond showcased its technical strengths in three core scenarios: intelligent driving safety, exterior interaction, and immersive in-cabin experience.
For enhanced environmental perception and vehicle-to-environment communication, Refond introduced its ADS Cyan blue-green LED. Leveraging direct-emission chip and phosphor technologies, it delivers high visibility with a dominant wavelength range of 490–497.5nm. The LED improves penetration in rain/fog/night conditions by 30%, suitable for headlamps, sensor-assist lighting, and V2V signaling, and is certified to EU RoHS standards.
For adaptive driving beam (ADB) applications, Refond unveiled automotive-grade matrix light source modules supporting 16/24/36/48/84/102-pixel solutions. With micrometer-level pixel spacing and precise beam control, the modules flexibly adapt to various vehicle designs, dynamically avoiding glare while ensuring optimal illumination for enhanced road safety.
Refond’s interactive display LED solution features an integrated lamp bead + module design. Each LED provides uniform surface emission and supports RGB/RG/R/W options in formats such as 2020 and 3030 packages. Applications include ambient lighting and exterior grilles, enabling personalized vehicle light communication. Integrated with in-vehicle systems, the solution supports driving mode reminders and builds an efficient communication framework among people, vehicles, and infrastructure.
In addition, Refond’s Mini LED direct-view technology — characterized by its compact, lightweight, ultra-thin, flexible, and pixelated design — powers interior ambient lights, pixelated intelligent tail lamps, and dynamic logos. Through vivid colors, dynamic animations, and intelligent interaction, these innovations enhance safety, aesthetics, and human-machine interaction for next-generation smart cockpits and exteriors.
Debuting at ISAL 2025, Refond introduced its innovative integrated color-changing wheel hub. Addressing the market demand for smart, personalized design, the product breaks traditional wheel limitations with a large-scale, ultra-thin lightweight baseboard featuring 120 segmented circuits. Combined with E Ink Prism3S or Prism1 color-changing films, the hub enables dynamic color transformations, delivering futuristic and highly customizable wheel aesthetics.
Automotive LED applications are transitioning from functional components to core enablers of the intelligent driving ecosystem. Refond has built a comprehensive product portfolio spanning exterior lighting, in-vehicle display backlighting, ambient illumination, invisible light, and sensing solutions.
