- Mini-LED Display

A chip on board (COB) design can be used to incorporate small LED displays, controlling the brightness and colors of each mini-LED technology in the display without the requirement for an externally integrated driver. Mini COB provides several advantages, including the ability to successfully prevent issues caused by humidity, static electricity, and other environmental or human variables in standard SMD packaging narrow pitch LEDs. Heat is dissipated directly via the PCB board, which results in a greater heat dissipation effect, thus the costs of the follow-up maintenance can be reduced

Direct-view LED screens in vehicles are another use for which tiny LEDs were created. When viewed directly, OLED displays can be excessively bright, yet when viewed indirectly, they can be too dark, making them unsafe for use in-car displays. Because of their greater granularity and brightness control, mini-LED technology has overcome this problem. Backlighting for automobile displays such as HUDs, dashboards, in-vehicle entertainment systems, and rearview mirror displays has shifted to mini-LED. Mini-LED was also used by certain LED manufacturers to demonstrate conceptual uses of exterior car lighting.
Component of Mini-Led Technology
Thousands of small LED backlights are used in mini-LED technology to provide substantially improved local dimming characteristics. These backlight diodes must be smaller than 0.2mm wide to be classified as mini-LEDs. LCD screens require local dimming because backlight bleed causes poor blacks and contrast ratios as compared to OLED displays, which have individual pixels that switch on and off. This is a hybrid method that tries to mimic OLED's emissive properties while requiring less design complexity:
- Mini-POB solution (Gypsophila solution)
